Decide what time your child is going to go to bed at, no matter what

A few hours before your child is put to bed, do some relaxing activities to help calm down your baby
Give the baby some time to play and wind down before he or she goes to sleep. Don't get the baby excited with vigorous games, or let visitors play with the baby before bedtime as this will stimulate, rather than soothe, your child. Examples are shown in the following steps
Reading a bedtime story

Tell or read baby a story in a soothing, monotone voice
Sing to your baby
Sing baby a quiet song
Give lots of hugs and kisses
Stroke their head slowly
Make sure they have everything they need before they go to sleep and their favourite stuffed toy.
Make sure they are wearing a clean nappy and they are full and don't need feeding.
Remember that a baby is very different form grown people
